Pune has reported 66 cases of Zika virus infection in the past two months, including 26 pregnant women. While four patients have died, the deaths were attributed to comorbidities, not the virus itself, as reported by the NDTV News outlet.
The first case was detected on June 20 in a 46-year-old doctor from Erandwane. His 15-year-old daughter also tested positive.
Health officials are conducting surveillance and fumigation to curb mosquito breeding. No deaths in India have been directly linked to Zika so far.
