At least nine people were killed and 20 injured after a powerful explosion ripped through the Nowgam police station in Srinagar on Friday night, according to reports.
The incident occurred while a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Forensic Science Laboratory was examining explosives seized during recent raids in Faridabad. Initial findings suggest the material under inspection included ammonium nitrate.
Police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is under way.
