Kejriwal unveils 7-point manifesto for middle class

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday unveiled the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, focusing heavily on welfare measures for the middle class. Kejriwal outlined a seven-point charter of demands to the central government, urging their inclusion in the forthcoming Union Budget.

Kejriwal emphasized that the next Union Budget should prioritize the middle class, stating, “We demand that the education budget be increased to 10% from 2%, and private school fees be capped.” He also called for enhanced subsidies and scholarships for higher education. Other key demands he raised included increasing the health budget to 10%, removing taxes on health insurance, and raising the income tax exemption limit to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 7 lakh. Kejriwal further proposed removing GST from essential commodities and establishing comprehensive retirement plans and pension schemes for senior citizens.

Additionally, the manifesto advocated for free medical services for senior citizens at all government and private hospitals, and a 50% concession in rail travel for the elderly.
