Larsen and Toubro (L and T) Chairman, SN Subrahmanyan, on Thursday, announced a one-day paid menstrual leave for women employees during the company’s Women’s Day celebrations. This progressive move is set to benefit around 5,000 female employees, The Financial Express reported. A company spokesperson highlighted, “During today’s Women’s Day event at L&T, SN Subrahmanyan introduced the one-day paid menstrual leave policy for female employees. This marks a significant and pioneering step in the industry, expected to impact approximately 5,000 women across the organization.” Larsen and Toubro Chairman SN Subrahmanyan stirred controversy in early 2025 with comments supporting a 90-hour workweek. During an internal meeting, he lamented not being able to make employees work on Sundays and emphasized that such long hours were crucial for success.
His remarks, including a controversial comment about “staring at your wife,” sparked a heated debate on work-life balance and drew backlash from the public, industry leaders, and social media users.
