Punjab Police have arrested Shehnaz Singh, also known as Shawn Bhinder, a notorious kingpin of transnational drug smuggling wanted by the FBI. Singh was a major figure in a global narcotics syndicate, orchestrating the smuggling of cocaine from Colombia into the US and Canada, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Sharing details, Punjab DGP said that the arrest follows a February 26 operation in the US that led to the capture of Singh’s associates: Amritpal Singh, also known as Amrit or Bal; Amritpal Singh, also known as Cheema; Takdir Singh, also known as Romy; Sarbsit Singh, also known as Sabi; and Fernando Valladares, also known as Franco.
During the US operation, authorities seized 391 kg of methamphetamine, 109 kg of cocaine, and four firearms. After the crackdown, Singh fled to India, where Punjab Police tracked and apprehended him, he added.
The operation underscores Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and organized crime, with officials reiterating their commitment to international law enforcement cooperation to prevent the state from becoming a safe haven for criminals.
