New Delhi, May 14
India on Wednesday rejected China’s latest move to rename locations in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, calling the attempt “vain and preposterous.” In response to media queries, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, said that New Delhi had taken note of Beijing’s continued efforts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, a region China claims as part of its territory.
“Consistent with our principled position, we reject such attempts categorically,” Jaiswal said. “Creative naming will not alter the undeniable reality that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.”
