Chandigarh, June 18
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday said that 184 DNA samples have been successfully matched so far in the aftermath of the tragic Air India crash en route to London. In an update posted on X, Sanghavi said, “Air India crash update: As of now, 177 DNA have been matched.” The forensic testing is being carried out by teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU).
Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel on Sunday confirmed that 274 people were killed in last week’s devastating Air India crash, which has sent shockwaves across the country. The fatal incident occurred on June 12, when Air India flight AI171, a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft was carrying 242 passengers and crew.
