Two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots were killed on Wednesday after their Jaguar trainer aircraft crashed near Bhanuda village in Rajasthan’s Churu district during a routine training sortie. In a statement, the IAF confirmed the aircraft “met with an accident” and that both crew members suffered fatal injuries. “There is no damage to any civil property,” it added.
The crash occurred in a sparsely populated area, and emergency responders were quickly deployed to secure the site and begin recovery operations.
The IAF expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating it “deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families in this time of grief.”
A court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident, which marks another in a series of non-combat military aviation mishaps that have raised safety concerns within India’s ageing fleet.
