Petrol and diesel prices may soon decline across the country. Sharing details Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, on Thursday said that if crude oil prices remain steady at $65 per barrel for an extended period, a reduction in fuel prices could be expected within the next 2–3 months. He made these remarks during the ongoing ‘Energy Dialogue 2025’ in Delhi. However, he also emphasized that this projection depends on global stability. Any significant geopolitical event, such as rising tensions between Iran and Israel, could potentially alter the scenario.
Recently, global crude oil prices dropped to $65 per barrel, boosting the profit margins of oil marketing companies. Given this trend, the government may consider passing on the benefit to consumers by lowering petrol and diesel prices.
