Maruti Suzuki Chairman R.C. Bhargava announced that the company will introduce electric vehicles (EVs) in the next few months, as outlined in the automaker’s 2023-24 annual report. According to The Hindustan Times, Bhargava also highlighted the need for a policy framework promoting various clean technologies such as CNG, biogas, and ethanol. “Some states, like UP, have already taken steps in this direction,” he said, emphasizing the importance of replacing petrol and diesel cars with more sustainable alternatives.
Bhargava explained Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to adopt a diversified approach to meet national objectives. “Considering India’s economic and social environment and resource availability, the best strategy is to offer cars with different technologies at various price levels,” he stated. While Maruti Suzuki prepares to launch EVs, Bhargava emphasized the continued focus on hybrid, CNG, and ethanol technologies. He also mentioned ongoing biogas production trials at the Manesar plant, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable solutions.
