Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed gratitude to the Indian community in Tokyo, saying he was “deeply touched” by their warmth and affection. In a post on X, Modi lauded their commitment to preserving Indian cultural roots while making “meaningful contributions” to Japanese society. He said he would soon engage with business leaders to “add vigour” to India–Japan trade and investment relations.
Earlier, upon landing in Tokyo, Modi wrote that he looked forward to discussions with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and other leaders to strengthen cooperation and “explore new avenues of collaboration.”
The visit is being seen as a step to deepen bilateral ties, with a focus on economic, cultural and developmental partnerships between India and Japan.
