The Government has appointed Shirish Chandra Murmu, Executive Director, as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a term of three years. The appointment will take effect from his date of joining the post on or after October 9 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
According to the government notification issued on September 30, the appointment has been made in exercise of powers conferred under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, read with sub-section (4) of Section 8.
