Amritsar, October 6
The Punjab Police have recovered two additional hand grenades from an accused identified as Harpreet Singh, alias Happy or Milkha, a resident of Tarn Taran, taking the total recovery in the case to four grenades, Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Monday. According to the DGP, preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was in direct contact with handlers of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and had received the consignment through cross-border channels. The recovery forms part of a broader operation by Punjab Police aimed at dismantling terror networks operating with foreign links. A case has been registered at the Gharinda Police Station in Amritsar under relevant provisions of the law. DGP Yadav said the Amritsar Rural Police further investigating the matter to identify the remaining members of the network and to trace the supply chain of the recovered explosives. The DGP reaffirmed that Punjab Police remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in the border state by intensifying operations against terrorist modules and illegal arms smuggling.
