Chandigarh, October 15
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has announced that its Chief Operating Officer, Tarun Garg, will take over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from 1 January 2026. Garg’s appointment marks a significant milestone, as he will be the first Indian to head the company since Hyundai began its operations in the country in 1996.
The leadership transition comes as current MD Unsoo Kim prepares to return to South Korea to take up a strategic role with Hyundai Motor Company on 31 December 2025, the automaker said in a notice to the BSE.
Hyundai is India’s second-largest carmaker and plays a key role in the group’s global operations.
