Himachal Pradesh’s chief minister has said he pressed the state’s most urgent concerns at a meeting of the Northern Zonal Council held in Faridabad on Monday, where regional leaders gathered to discuss shared challenges under the chairmanship of the home minister, Amit Shah.
He told the council that Himachal’s priorities – from infrastructure gaps to the vulnerabilities of its mountain communities – required closer attention from the centre. The state’s geography, he argued, demanded policy support that recognised the realities of working in high-altitude terrain and the financial strain such conditions impose.
The chief minister said the discussions ranged widely across issues facing northern states, from resource pressures to inter-state coordination, adding that the dialogue underscored the need for stronger cooperation between the centre and the region.
