The Punjab and Haryana High Court has designated Advocate General Maninderjit Singh Bedi as a Senior Advocate, according to an official notification issued today. The court exercised its powers under Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act, 1961 to confer the status, which takes effect immediately.
Bedi, who hails from Phul town in Bathinda district, graduated in law from Punjabi University, Patiala, in 2005. He began his legal career under the mentorship of his paternal uncle while practising at Rampura Phul before moving to Chandigarh in 2009. Over the years, he developed a wide-ranging practice spanning constitutional, civil, criminal, service, revenue and corporate law. He has also served as panel counsel for several state bodies, including PSPCL, PTU, urban local bodies and PUNGRAIN.
Bedi previously held the post of Additional Advocate General, Punjab, from July 2023 to March 2025, representing the state in both the High Court and the Supreme Court. He was appointed Advocate General of Punjab in March this year.
