New Delhi, March 12
Roche Pharma India on Wednesday said it has partnered with the Punjab government to launch an initiative to strengthen care and support systems for women living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the state.
The NeuroSakhi programme aims to strengthen care pathways, awareness and support systems for women navigating the complex neurological condition, the company said in a statement.
Roche Pharma India MD and CEO Rajwinder Mehdwan said the NeuroSakhi initiative will initially be implemented over one year, with the potential to be adopted and replicated across more states across the country.
“Women are often more affected by autoimmune conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, yet their health needs are frequently overlooked. Initiatives like NeuroSakhi are important because they help build stronger support for women living with MS through greater awareness, earlier diagnosis, and better access to treatment,” she added.
Dr Dheeraj Khurana of PGIMER Chandigarh said that MS is a complex neurological condition with a strong predilection for women where timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment can significantly alter the course of the disease.
