A 31-year-old property dealer was gunned down in broad daylight outside a gym in Sector 9, Chandigarh, on Wednesday, in what police described as a brazen attack. The victim, identified as Charanpreet, a resident of Mullanpur, was leaving the gym when two assailants on a motorcycle approached. One of them opened fire, hitting him multiple times. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival.
The attackers fled the scene immediately. Police cordoned off the area as forensic teams collected evidence. CCTV footage is being examined to trace the suspects.
This marks the second shooting in the city within 24 hours. On Tuesday, unidentified gunmen opened fire at a student leader near Panjab University’s Department of Botany. The student escaped unharmed.
Authorities say investigations are underway, but the back-to-back incidents have raised concerns over public safety in the city.
