Mathura, March 21
President Droupadi Murmu prayed at the Danghati Temple in Govardhan here on Saturday, the third day of her Uttar Pradesh visit, official sources said.
The president participated in the aarti of Giriraj Ji Maharaj and did the Govardhan Parikrama.
Danghati temple receiver Deep Chandra Kaushik said that amid chants of “Giriraj Dharan ki Jai” and other hymns, the president performed a ‘mahabhishek’ using 11 kg of milk, curd, honey, ghee and powdered sugar.
He added that Murmu was presented with a silver idol of Giriraj Ji Maharaj, a ceremonial stole and prasad.
According to spiritual beliefs, the Braj region, dating back to the era of Krishna (Dwapar Yug), holds three eternal elements – Giriraj Ji, Braj Bhoomi, and the Yamuna River.
Murmu’s three-day visit to the state began on March 19 from Ayodhya. She earlier visited the Ram Janmabhoomi.
