CM Sukhu targets BJP, questions Rs 1,500 crore aid delay

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday expressed deep condolences over the demise of the elder brother of MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur during his visit to Katrain in Manali, where he met the bereaved family.

Speaking to reporters, Sukhu launched a sharp attack on the BJP, alleging that Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur is making statements under stress amid growing factionalism within the party. He claimed that internal divisions have intensified to the point that discussions are underway to remove Thakur from his position.

The Chief Minister further accused the BJP of acting against the interests of Himachal Pradesh, stating that the opposition party opposes every initiative taken by the Congress government for public welfare. He alleged that BJP workers remain largely active on social media, attempting to defame the state government.

Highlighting the Congress government’s response during crises, Sukhu said the public is aware that the administration stood firmly with people during disasters. He added that BJP leaders failed to support the state on key issues, including disaster management and raising matters like RDG grants with the central government.

Sukhu also questioned the status of the ₹1,500 crore financial assistance announced by the Prime Minister, saying there has been no visible progress on its implementation.

He concluded by alleging that while BJP leaders make tall claims at public rallies and online, the party remains deeply divided internally, thereby weakening its ability to address the state’s concerns.
