Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, and several other dignitaries arrived at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai to pay their last respects to iconic industrialist Ratan Tata. The mortal remains of Tata, escorted by his close aide Shantanu Naidu, were brought to the NCPA for the public tribute at 10:30 AM. Prominent figures, including NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and KM Birla, also paid homage to the business tycoon.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has proposed posthumously conferring the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, on Ratan Tata. The proposal will be submitted to the Central government for approval.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over Tata’s passing, describing him as an extraordinary human being and a visionary leader who provided stable leadership to one of India’s most esteemed business houses. Modi highlighted Tata’s contributions beyond the corporate realm, particularly his commitment to societal welfare, stating, “Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being.”
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, also expressed her condolences, emphasizing that India had lost an icon who harmonized corporate growth with nation-building and excellence with ethics. She praised Tata’s legacy, noting his influence as a recipient of both the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, and his lasting impact on philanthropy, charity, and inspiring young professionals.
