Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized the importance of inclusivity in public policy, advocating for policies that address the diverse needs of the community. Speaking at the inauguration of the KIIT School of Public Policy at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneshwar, Birla asserted that policies reflecting the voices and experiences of all individuals foster a sense of belonging and encourage active democratic participation.
Birla highlighted the resilience of India’s democratic values, stating that citizens are the ultimate guardians of their rights. He noted that public commitment to democracy is evident in elections and social movements, reinforcing the notion that democracy thrives despite challenges. He also stressed the importance of diversity in enriching Indian democracy, acknowledging the nation’s vast array of cultures, languages, and traditions.
Addressing India’s economic landscape, Birla remarked on the increasing foreign investment driven by a strong adherence to the ‘Rule of Law.’ He praised India’s legal framework for protecting investor interests and contributing to economic growth, highlighting the stability and transparency that bolster investor confidence in the country.
