Telangana High Court granted interim bail to Telugu actor Allu Arjun on Friday, hours after he was sent to 14-day judicial custody in connection with a fatal stampede during the screening of his film Pushpa-2 at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. The tragic incident occurred on the film’s premiere day, resulting in the death of a woman and the critical injury of her son. Allu Arjun, star of the Pushpa series, was arrested by the police in the afternoon. Police filed charges against Allu Arjun and his team, stating that their visit to the theatre lacked prior notice, which led to the chaos and stampede during the screening. In response, Arjun filed a petition with the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the First Information Report (FIR) registered by Chikkadpally police, which named him as an accused. The court’s decision allows the actor temporary relief, pending further legal proceedings.
