Chandigarh, December 14
Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence unit in Jalandhar, in collaboration with SBS Nagar Police, has resolved the December 2 grenade attack on the Asron Police Post in Kathgarh. Three individuals, identified as Yugpreet Singh (Yuvi), Jaskaran Singh, and Harjot Singh, have been arrested. The suspects are members of the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), a group reportedly controlled by handlers based in Germany, the UK, and other countries, DGP Gaurav Yadav said.
The KZF module was allegedly tasked with targeting police establishments and minority leaders. Investigators revealed that the group received ₹4.5 lakh in funding over the last six months. Preliminary findings indicate the grenade used in the attack was retrieved on November 28 from a Dead Letter Box (DLB) along the G.T. Road in Jalandhar before being deployed in SBS Nagar, he DGP further said. The Police have recovered a country-made pistol, a revolver, and six live cartridges during the operation.
