Punjab is strengthening its push towards advanced manufacturing and innovation after Amber Group of Industries announced plans to set up a major research and development centre in Rajpura, with an investment of ₹500 crore. The new facility, to be developed in phases, is expected to create around 1,000 high-skilled jobs and focus on the design, validation and testing of next-generation heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) products for both domestic and export markets.
Welcoming the announcement, Punjab’s Industries and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora said the investment underlined growing investor confidence in the state’s industrial ecosystem. He said Punjab’s policies, skilled workforce and focus on ease of doing business were helping position the state as a hub for advanced engineering and product design.
The Amber Group of Industries is a diversified manufacturing conglomerate with operations across electronics, power systems, railways, defence and precision cooling. The group operates 33 manufacturing facilities and 12 sales offices in India and overseas, with annual revenues of about ₹10,000 crore.
Jasbir Singh, chief executive of Amber Enterprises India Ltd, said Punjab offered a strong mix of talent, infrastructure and policy support. He said the company’s expanded R&D presence in Rajpura reflected a long-term commitment to innovation-led growth and to strengthening India’s role in the global HVAC value chain.
The Amber Group already operates a sheet metal manufacturing unit and an R&D facility in Rajpura. The proposed centre will further expand its innovation footprint in the state, building on its existing operations.
The company supplies air conditioners and components to several global brands, including Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, LG and Samsung, highlighting Punjab’s growing integration into international manufacturing networks.
State officials said the government would continue to support major investments through infrastructure development, policy stability and faster approvals, as it seeks to attract high-value manufacturing and research-led projects.
