Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday confirmed that eight people were killed and several others injured in an explosion that occurred near the Red Fort in New Delhi around 7 p.m.
Providing details, Shah said, “We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking every angle into account. All options will be examined immediately, and the findings will be presented to the public.”
He added that nearby cars and auto-rickshaws were also damaged in the blast. A high-level meeting will be held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Home Affairs to review the situation.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been ascertained, and security agencies are investigating all possible leads, Shah said.
