Senior BJP leader and former Home Minister Anil Vij secured victory in the Ambala Cantt seat, defeating independent candidate Chitra Sarwara by 7,277 votes. Vij polled 59,858 votes, while Sarwara garnered 52,581 votes. According to early Election Commission trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 48 seats, positioning the party to form the Haryana government for a third consecutive term. Congress is ahead in 37 seats, with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leading in two and independents in three.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on the BJP’s anticipated win. Modi is expected to address BJP supporters later this evening. Saini won the Ladwa assembly seat by defeating Congress’ Mewa Singh by 16,054 votes, attributing the BJP’s success to Modi’s leadership and policies.
