National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on advancing border de-escalation and managing bilateral ties in Beijing. The meeting is viewed as a pivotal step to ease tensions stemming from border disputes and to explore opportunities for development cooperation. Officials have confirmed that discussions between Doval and Wang are continuing, till the filing of the report.
The talks align with a roadmap set during a prior meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan. Discussions between Doval and Wang are ongoing, according to officials.
Earlier this month, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, addressing Parliament on December 3, emphasized the importance of maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to improve relations with China. Jaishankar noted that the disengagement process along the LAC has been completed, with efforts now focused on de-escalation and operational management.
During his recent engagement with Wang Yi, Jaishankar reaffirmed commitments to resume Special Representative (SR)-level and Foreign Secretary-level discussions.
