Dharamshala, April 7
Admissions for the CBSE stream at Heritage Boys School have begun. This historic institution was established during the British era in Dharamshala. The school, recently converted to a CBSE-affiliated institution, is attracting students from Dharamshala and nearby regions, including Chamba and Bharmour.
Despite the shift to the CBSE curriculum, students continue to pay fees under the existing Himachal Pradesh Board structure. The administration clarified that this CBSE stream-fee arrangement is temporary and will remain in place until the government issues specific CBSE fee guidelines.
Earlier, parents had been uncertain about the school’s future amid speculation that it might shut down. However, the launch of CBSE classes has cleared the confusion, and parents are now approaching the school in large numbers for admissions.
Principal Roopali Bhagoria said the school has been designated as a lead school under the CBSE pattern, while continuing to run Himachal Pradesh Board classes. Classes 9 and 11 are conducted by the CBSE, while Classes 10 and 12 are conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board.
According to the principal, admissions for the CBSE stream began on April 1, and the school now functions as a co-educational institution. She said students from far-off areas, including Bharmour in Chamba district, have already started arriving to seek admission.
“To ensure a smooth admission process, separate admission committees have been formed for the CBSE section,” she said. Among the parents visiting the school was Kamla Devi, who came from Sihunta to enroll her son in Class 9 under the CBSE system. “My son wants to study under the CBSE pattern, which is why we have come here for his admission,” she said.
