A sudden cloudburst near Jamathkhana in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district caused significant destruction on Friday evening, sweeping away several vehicles and disrupted normal life.
The incident occurred around 6 pm in the Nirmand region, where torrential rains accompanied by thunder unleashed a deluge of water and debris. Eyewitnesses said the flash flood swept parked vehicles off the roadside within minutes.
Preliminary reports suggest that nearly 10 vehicles may have been carried away in the mud and debris. The local administration and residents launched immediate rescue operations in the affected area.
Floodwaters reportedly reached the banks of the Sutlej River, leading to a sharp rise in the water level. Authorities have issued an alert to those living near the river and urged people to remain vigilant.
Traffic in the region remains suspended as debris continues to block the roads.
