Shimla, February 13
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu criticised the BJP for staging a walkout from the all-party meeting, calling it “against the interest of the state.” He said the venue was shifted from the Secretariat to Peterhoff at the BJP’s request, yet its leaders left without hearing him out. Sukhu accused the BJP of indulging in “political theatrics” and lacking the courage to raise the issue of RDG restoration before the Centre.
Meanwhile Leader of Opposition(LoP) Jai Ram Thakur walked out of the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, raising serious questions over the government’s intent. He termed the presentation by the Finance Secretary as “misleading” and accused the state government of attempting to shift blame for its “financial mismanagement” onto the BJP-led Centre.
He also pointed out that RDG has been discontinued not only for Himachal Pradesh but for 17 other states, dismissing claims of discrimination by the Centre.
