New Delhi, November 19

In a major step amid worsening air pollution in Delhi, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna on Tuesday urged Supreme Court judges to conduct virtual hearings wherever feasible. The announcement came during a hearing on air quality management, with discussions involving Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior advocates Kapil Sibal. CJI Sanjiv Khanna said that the Supreme Court has advised judges to accommodate requests for virtual hearings wherever feasible. “We have said to all judges here to allow virtual hearings wherever possible,” he remarked, while not allowing blanket implementation of online hearings.
