Chandigarh, November 6
Former US President Donald Trump declared victory in the 2024 US presidential election as he addressed a jubilant crowd at his campaign headquarters in Florida, despite not yet securing the required electoral college votes. “This is a magnificent victory for the American people, that will allow us to make America great again,” Trump proclaimed, invoking his signature campaign slogan.
Trump told supporters that the day would be remembered as one of the most important in their lives, referencing his party’s anticipated return to Senate control. He also thanked his wife Melania, calling her “First Lady” and praising her bestselling book and hard work. The former president expressed gratitude toward his children, who stood with him on stage, and introduced JD Vance as his choice for vice president.
While the election results remain unofficial, Trump remains just four electoral votes short of victory. Vance, cheered by the crowd, took the mic to describe Trump’s campaign as “the greatest political comeback ever.” Trump added humorously that Vance was the right choice, despite earlier criticism over his selection.
