Chandigarh, April 17
The Enforcement Directorate(ED) on Friday carried out searches at premises linked to Punjab Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora as part of an ongoing investigation, officials said. The searches were conducted at residential and official locations in Ludhiana associated with Arora, his son Kavya Arora, and businessman Hemant Sood of Findoc Finvest. Another search was carried out at a premises in Jalandhar linked to Chandrasekhar Aggarwal, who sources described as an alleged bookie.
Confirming the development, Arora said in a post on X that he would cooperate with the authorities. “An action by the Enforcement Directorate took place at my premises. As a responsible citizen, I will fully cooperate with the agencies and I am confident that the truth will prevail,” he said.Arora, an MLA from Ludhiana West representing the Aam Aadmi Party, is currently abroad on official work, sources said.
Earlier in 2024, the Enforcement Directorate had alleged that companies linked to Sanjeev Arora and his family caused losses to the state exchequer. The latest action comes days after the agency carried out searches under foreign exchange regulations at premises linked to Ashok Kumar Mittal, a Rajya Sabha MP from the same party, in Punjab and Haryana.
Further investigation is underway.
