Eknath Shinde thanks voters as Mahayuti heads for landslide victory

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader, Eknath Shinde, expressed gratitude to voters as the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance looks set to retain power in the state. “This is a landslide victory,” Shinde said, thanking the voters and party workers for their support. He had previously predicted a strong win for the alliance.

As of 12:30 pm on Saturday, the Mahayuti alliance was leading in 218 out of 288 assembly seats, crossing the majority threshold to secure a continued mandate. Vote counting for the November 20 elections began at 8 a.m., with the state recording a voter turnout of 66%, an increase from 61% in 2019.

Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the JMM-led INDIA bloc was leading in 50 of the 81 assembly seats, while the BJP-led NDA was ahead in 30, according to initial trends.
