India voiced concern over the worsening security situation along the Blue Line on Friday, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stating that it is closely monitoring developments. “We are concerned at the deteriorating security situation along the Blue Line. “Inviolability of UN premises must be respected by all, and measures taken to ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers and the sanctity of their mandate,” said Randhir Jaiswal, MEA spokesperson.
The statement followed reports that Israeli forces had allegedly targeted UN peacekeeping positions in Lebanon, wounding two peacekeepers and drawing accusations of violating international law.
