Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, a meeting seen as crucial ahead of the anticipated expansion of the state’s Cabinet. BJP sources indicated that Fadnavis is in Delhi to secure the final approval from the party’s leadership on the reshuffle. Alongside Fadnavis, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar is also in the capital. The cabinet expansion of the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government is expected to take place on December 14.
In the aftermath of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured 132 seats, Shiv Sena won 57, and NCP claimed 41. Cabinet positions are expected to be allocated based on electoral performance, with the BJP set to receive around 20 ministerial berths, Shiv Sena 12, and NCP 10. Maharashtra’s Cabinet will consist of a total of 43 ministers, including the Chief Minister.
