Punjab’s mandis have received 126.67 LMT of paddy as of November 8, with 120.67 LMT procured by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state agencies at the minimum support price (MSP) of ₹2,320 per quintal for Grade ‘A’ paddy, according to Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. The ongoing procurement under the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024-25 has yielded purchases totaling ₹27,995 crore, benefiting about 658,000 farmers across Punjab. The state has allocated milling work to 4,743 of the 4,839 applicants, ensuring processing capacity aligns with procurement levels.
Punjab’s paddy procurement, which began on October 1, is being conducted across 2,927 designated mandis and temporary sites. The central government has set a target of 185 LMT for this season, with operations expected to continue until November 30.
