Anandpur Sahib/Chandigarh, October 29
A former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Chandigarh, Dilsher Chandel, has been accused of opening fire in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, leaving local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Nitin Nanda seriously injured. The Police said that Nanda was shot and immediately taken to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, where his condition remains critical.
The incident took place in the Anandpur Sahib area, though the motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined. Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway, and an FIR will be registered after recording the victim’s statement. Police have not yet verified whether the gunfire was indeed carried out by former DSP or another individual. The Anandpur Sahib Police have cordoned off the area and launched a detailed probe into the incident.
