Congress senior leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda secured a decisive victory in Garhi Sampla, defeating BJP’s Manju by a margin of 71,465 votes on Tuesday. Hooda polled 108,539 votes, while Manju received 37,074. Despite his individual win, Hooda faces disappointment as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on track to form the Haryana government for a third consecutive term.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on the BJP’s expected victory. Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah led the campaign, focusing on development, while countering opposition claims of anti-incumbency.
Saini won the Ladwa assembly seat, defeating Congress candidate Mewa Singh by 16,054 votes. Election Commission data shows the BJP leading in 49 seats, with Congress ahead in 36.
