Ganaur (Haryana), November 4
A former cricket coach, identified as Ramkaran, was shot dead in Haryana’s Ganaur late on Monday night in what police believe to be a politically motivated attack. According to police, the assailant, identified as Sunil alias Lambu, a former acting chairman of Ganaur Municipal Council, allegedly opened fire on Ramkaran near the Civil Hospital area. The victim, who sustained three bullet wounds, later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The Police said that the murder appears to stem from a political rivalry. Ramkaran was the father-in-law of councillor Sonia, who had defeated Sunil Lambu’s wife in the recent municipal elections. The defeat had reportedly sparked ongoing tensions between the two families. The Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused, who fled the scene after the shooting. “Preliminary investigation suggests the murder was driven by electoral rivalry. The accused will be arrested soon,” said Rishikant, ACP Ganaur.
