Chandigarh, November 5
Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, known for The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files and The Bengal Files, on Wednesday said that it is the duty of the government to ensure that people can watch films without any hurdles.
Speaking at Chandigarh Press Club, Agnihotri remarked, “Those who wanted to ban our films are the first to watch them.”
He said that many in the film industry hesitate to make politically charged movies. “Freedom of expression must be upheld. It is the government’s responsibility to make proper arrangements so that movies can be released and seen peacefully,” he said.
Emphasising that he has moved beyond controversies, Agnihotri added, “I will not fight anymore. I will continue making films, and those who wish to watch them should be able to do so without any problems.”
