Shimla, April 15
The 79th Himachal Day was marked with enthusiasm at the historic Ridge Maidan in Shimla on Wednesday , where Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri took the salute at the parade and conveyed greetings to the people of the state.
At the district-level function, Agnihotri attended as the chief guest, hoisted the national flag, inspected the parade and took part in the march past salute. The programme also included cultural performances by schoolchildren, which were well received by those present.
Himachal Congress in charge Rajni Patil attended the event as a special guest. State Congress president Vinay Kumar, MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Harish Janartha, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri conveyed his greetings on Himachal Day and said the state came into existence on April 15, 1948. He said Himachal Pradesh is now among the leading states in the country on various development indicators.
He further said the government is committed to the welfare of farmers, horticulturists, employees, and youth. Reiterating the government’s stand, he said the Old Pension Scheme will not be discontinued under any circumstances. He added that despite financial constraints, development in the state will not be affected.
