Chandigarh, October 11
Rohtak Superintendent of Police, Narendra Bijarniya, has been removed from his post after being named in the case linked to the alleged suicide of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar. According to an official order issued by the Haryana Home Department on Saturday, Surinder Singh Bhoria has been appointed as the new SP of Rohtak. No new posting has been assigned to Bijarniya yet.
This development comes after Kumar’s wife, IAS officer Amneet Puran Kumar, lodged a formal complaint naming Shatrujeet Kapoor, the state DGP, along with the Rohtak SSP and other senior officers. The complaint alleges harassment and abetment in connection with her husband’s death.
The official order, dated 11 October said that Bijarniya’s posting orders would be issued separately. Bhoria, who previously served as Commandant of the 5th Battalion HAP, Madhuban, and SP of HSN CBC (H), has been transferred to Rohtak to take charge. The suicide case of Puran Kumar has triggered widespread concern and scrutiny over internal police functioning in Haryana, with demands for accountability and a fair investigation.
