Senior BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur has accused the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh of relying on publicity campaigns rather than delivering real benefits to the people. Jai Ram Thakur said that while Priyanka Gandhi Vadra claims the state government connects directly with the public rather than depending on PR and social media, Congress leaders themselves often engage in media-driven events. “If Rahul Gandhi goes among people with cameras and farms wearing socks, is that not a PR stunt?” he remarked.
He alleged that the Himachal Pradesh government spends millions on advertisements while allocating minimal funds to welfare schemes. “For schemes worth ₹10 lakh, this government spends ₹10 crore on publicity,” Thakur said, adding that schemes like the Women’s Respect Fund have not reached beneficiaries despite extensive promotion.
Thakur further claimed that posters and banners of schemes that were either never implemented or discontinued are visible across the state. He also accused the government of spending crores of rupees to malign BJP leaders instead of addressing pressing healthcare needs. “While families struggle to afford a ₹50,000 injection, the government pours money into attacking the opposition,” he said, adding that Priyanka Gandhi’s remarks reflect a lack of awareness about her own party’s functioning in the state.
