India delivered an emphatic performance to clinch a remarkable 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth on Monday, leaving Australia with no answers. This win marked India’s largest-ever victory by runs in Test matches on Australian soil.
Set a daunting 534 for victory, Australia were bowled out for 238. Bumrah (3/37) was the star, finishing with eight wickets in the match. Mohammed Siraj (3/32) and Washington Sundar (3/58) also impressed with the ball, while Harish Rana picked up the final wicket to seal the win for India. Earlier, India’s massive total was built on stunning centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) and Virat Kohli (104) in the second innings.
With this comprehensive victory, India take a 1-0 lead in the series.
