New Delhi, May 3
In the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian has imposed an immediate ban on all direct and indirect imports or transits of goods originating from or exported through Pakistan. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued the notification on Saturday, declaring that the ban covers all goods, regardless of whether they were previously permitted or classified as freely importable.
“This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy,” said Ajay Bhado, Director General of Foreign Trade and Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
The government clarified that any exception to this blanket prohibition would require prior approval from New Delhi. The directive is to remain in force until further notice.
