New Delhi, December 10
The Congress-led INDIA opposition alliance on Tuesday submitted a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar, accusing him of biased conduct in the Upper House. The motion, supported by more than 50 MPs from Congress, Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and Rashtriya Janata Dal, was filed with the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, in a statement on social media platform X, described the decision as “painful” but necessary for the preservation of parliamentary democracy. Ramesh added that all parties in the INDIA alliance were left with no choice but to take this step due to Dhankhar’s alleged partisanship in chairing the proceedings.
