India has summoned a representative of the Canadian High Commission and a diplomatic Note was handed over in reference to the proceedings of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security in Ottawa on October 29, the MEA spokesman said.
The note conveyed India’s strong objection to comments by Deputy Minister David Morrison, describing them as “absurd and baseless” references to India’s Union Home Minister.
India also accused senior Canadian officials of intentionally leaking false claims to the international media as part of a strategy to undermine India and sway global opinion. “Such irresponsible actions will have serious consequences for bilateral ties,” the Indian government warned, the MEA further said.
