External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Tuesday said that India andPakistan have agreed, through diplomatic channels, to extend the validity of the Agreement on the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for an additional five years.
The Agreement, originally signed on October 24, 2019, facilitates the pilgrimage of Indian devotees to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal, Pakistan, via the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. It was initially set to last for five years.
The extension will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Corridor, allowing Indian pilgrims to continue their visits to the sacred Gurdwara in Pakistan.
In response to continued requests from pilgrims, India has once again urged Pakistan to remove the USD 20 service charge levied per visit.
